What do the program fees include?
Registration fees for GOTR cover costs for:
- 18 after school coaching sessions with certified GOTR coaches
- Snack at each training session
- GOTR T-shirt
- GOTR waterbottle
- New Balance running shoes
- Registration for Celebration 5K
What is the celebration event for Girls on the Run of Greater Lansing?
The celebration event is a 5K in November 2008 at Hawk Island Park in Lansing. Registration for the 5K event
is included in your GOTR program fees. Details will be sent home with all GOTR participants.
My daughter does not enjoy running. Will she like GOTR?
GOTR is much more than a running program! We are a character development program that encourages positive
self-esteem, healthy living, and goal setting. Girls can skip, walk, hop, or dance to meet their goals.
Ultimately, we want them to complete a 5K event in whatever way they feel comfortable.
Why is registration limited?
Our curriculum is designed to provide girls with a positive learning experience in a safe environment.
Registration is limited to 15 girls so that each girl can take an active role in the games and activities.
Limiting group size also allows each girl to receive more one-on-one attention from coaches.
Why would a site be canceled? What happens if my site is canceled?
Our curriculum is designed to encourage teamwork and community. Therefore, each site must have at least 8
girls register in order to conduct GOTR games and activities. If 8 girls do not register for the program at
a specific site, it will be canceled and full refunds will be given.
Why are refunds not issued after September 29?
Refunds are not issued after September 29. We do not allow girls to register after the fourth lesson.
If a girl opts not to participate in the program after the fourth lesson, you are not issued a refund because
we cannot refill that child’s spot in the program.
Who are the GOTR coaches?
GOTR coaches are volunteers who participate in an extensive day-long training, undergo a background check, and
are certified in CPR and First Aid. They are well prepared to support your daughter throughout her GOTR
experience.
New Balance running shoes are included in registration fees. How/when will my daughter get her shoes?
New Balance and Playmakers sponsor GOTR in mid-Michigan. Playmakers will coordinate with your daughter’s GOTR
coach to fit and then deliver New Balance running shoes.
What if a girl is unable to pay the registration fee?
There are some scholarships available. Scholarship awards are based upon availability of funds.
